English

Hindi is a beautiful language with its roots dating back to 769 AD. Outside of India, the language is recognized as a minority language in South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

Spanish – a Romance language – is the fourth most spoken language in the world. There are 559.1 million Spanish speakers as of 2023. Spanish is the official language in Spain – its origin, and 19 other countries.

For instance, the word “car” in Spain is “coche,” while in many Latin American countries, the word you probably will usually hear is “carro” or “automóvil.”

Portuguese

Another Romance language makes the list, and it’s Portuguese. With 263.6 million speakers, Portuguese is currently the eighth most spoken language worldwide. The language has a prominent existence in Portugal and Brazil and is also the official language of several other countries in the world, Mozambique and Angola are in the mix.

Russian belongs to the Indo-European language family and is one of the four living East Slavic languages. It is the official language of Russia, as well as Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. As the Soviet Union used this language officially, many former Soviet countries also speak Russian now. Currently, with 255.0 million speakers, Russian ranks ninth in the top 10 most-spoken languages.

Urdu

Urdu is spoken by 2231.7 million speakers and is mostly used in South Asia. It is the national language of Pakistan and is also one of the two official languages in this country. Out of Pakistan, several states of India also use Urdu.
